The Tree Trail is designed to be used on the move on any smartphone. You need to ensure you have location services activated to have the best experience. Refresh uom.treetrail.co.uk and accept the prompt.

You can choose your own starting point and route or follow one of the suggested routes that’s depicted with a dotted line: A blue line will direct you to a selected tree from your location if you want to go straight there. Don’t worry too much about getting lost though – there’s lots to discover off the beaten track!
Be part of it

Share your own tree photos with us throughout the year as they change with the seasons. On Instagram tag @uomsust and use the hashtag #uomtrees and tree name (displayed on the tree label) for the chance to be featured.

The University of Manchester cherishes its green spaces and trees and staff, students and the local community can enjoy access to over 1,500 trees including over 50 different species, all giving something different and performing valuable jobs.

The Tree Trail is a project led by the Environmental Sustainability team and is designed to encourage people to get out and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of walking, mindful reflection and to learn something new about the trees that they may see every day. This project is part of the University’s Campus Masterplan, creating world-class facilities for staff, students and visitors to enjoy.
